Cavalier Engine Swap

The author experienced increased oil consumption in their Lycoming O-290D engine due to several issues, including a lack of an oil-air separator and a worn valve guide. Opting for a more reliable solution, they decided to replace the O-290 with a Lycoming O-320-A2B engine, which offers better parts availability and power.

CAVU Dreams (2014-08)

From mid-May to August, significant work was done on a 1953 Cessna 170B following a concerning engine inspection. After evaluating options, it was decided to replace the original engine with a Lycoming O-360, enhancing performance. Despite increased weight and some initial issues, the owners are pleased with the outcome and eager to fly again.

My Struggles with a VW Aircraft Engine

In November 2000, I purchased a partially completed Kitfox Classic IV project. After six years of modifications, my first flight ended in an engine failure, leading to a crash. Through extensive repairs and engine upgrades to a VW engine, I addressed multiple issues such as fuel starvation, overheating, and valve problems, ultimately achieving successful flights.

CAVU Dreams (2011-08)

In July 2011, a group of pilots from the CRUFC embarked on a flight to Oshkosh, facing challenging weather conditions, mechanical issues, and customs procedures along the way. Despite setbacks, including an engine malfunction, the group ultimately enjoyed their time at Oshkosh, sharing stories and exploring aviation. The adventure spanned nine days, covering 28.2 flight hours.

Zenair 250 Upgrades

Carl Forman enlisted help with wiring his RV9, incorporating advanced electronics and an autopilot. The author details upgrades to their Zenair 250, sharing insights on propeller choices, radios, and navigation aids. Valuable additions included a cell/MP3 interface and engine monitor, demonstrating the importance of optimal performance and safety in aviation.

CAVU Dreams (2008-06)

In June, the author faced unfavorable weather and personal commitments, limiting aviation activities. They replaced Chrissy’s bungee gear with coil springs purchased from Wag Aero for better durability. The installation process involved modifications, and after 10 hours and $331.75, the new gear was assembled and sent for powder coating, though it added weight.
