Skywriter Newsletter One-Year Anniversary: Reflecting and Looking Forward

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
Well, its hard to believe how fast one year went by, my first year of editing the Skywriter newsletter. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, so you might say that time really does “fly”. (Groan) I had to take a moment to look back and reflect on what’s been done so far and if it’s been on par with the objectives, I set out for it initially. I wanted it to take on the appearance of our own little flying magazine related to our club. In the process of reviewing it, I did a collage page of the covers of each month’s newsletter, from year one, to get a general sense of it. I’ve included it so you will see the collage on the next page below.

Looking forward, I’m contemplating ways of improving and fine tuning the Skywriter. As it evolves, I’m very interested in any suggestions from you on how we might make it better. More than anything, I always welcome any and all submissions of pictures, stories and anything else you wish to share. You never know, the picture of your aircraft may end up on the front cover for everyone to enjoy!

This month, our features include a story sent to me by Ed D’antoni about a trip he and Norm Vienneau made to Washington State to look at purchasing a very interesting aircraft designed by Dean Wilson, designer of the Avid Flyer.

We also have another installment, From Vice President Brian Vasseur, on his continuing advanced training, toward his goal of becoming an Airline Pilot. This time he discusses his training for an instrument rating. Good read!

And finally, I share the experience I recently had flying in a 1952 Harvard Mark IV with Airshow Pilot Jim Hrymack. What an incredible experience. Story below.

Have a great summer and see you soon,
GREG.
