From The Cockpit (2009-11)

It’s been a quiet month for me on the flying front as I only managed to get up one day in October… but it was a good one! It was participating in our COPA for Kids Day on October 10th.

It was a cold and windy day with a bit of snow falling in the general area, but the weather held off long enough to allow us to complete our event. The final head count was 47 kids flown. I had a variety of kids that flew with me, including ones that never said a word to one that chatted on for the entire flight. One thing they all had in common, though, was a great big grin! I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make this a successful event. It definitely wouldn’t have happened without them.

Don’t forget about the elections coming up in December.

If you would like to run for one of the positions coming due, please see Dave Procychen or Ed D’Antoni. The positions due are:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • Director

It’s also time to start renewing your club membership. The fee is only $30.00 per year. Our annual raffle will be held at the February meeting, and we will once again be offering tickets at a price of $10.00 each or three for $25.00. You must be a paid-up member in order to buy tickets, so see Carl Forman with your dues. We are currently looking into a SPOT with a one-year tracking subscription as the first prize and a always-popular hand-held radio as the second prize. Our guest speaker for the November meeting will be Clarence Simonsen. Clarence specializes in WW2 history, especially “Nose Art” that was placed on most Canadian bombers of World War Two. Plan on attending, as it is sure to be an interesting evening.

See you soon!
