The author's journey from Yugoslavia to becoming a pilot in Canada spans decades. Despite limited resources in their home country, they pursued aviation through model building, skydiving, and Air Force training. Finally, after years of dedication, they soloed their handmade V-max in 2017, cherishing every moment and investment in their passion for flying.

On March 20th, club members flew into the Rockies, marking a winter flying experience. Piloted by Katerina Zima, the journey included eight pilots and six planes, showcasing the CRUFC's capabilities. After lunch in Invermere, they returned via Calgary, enjoying scenic views and gaining valuable flying experience. The day concluded with a smooth landing at Kirkby's.
The author achieved a Private Pilot’s License in 1980 but found aircraft ownership financially challenging. Discovering kit planes reignited their passion for flying. After moving to Calgary, they enjoyed flying a Macair Merlin, which provided an economical experience. While recently acquiring a Piper Cherokee 180 offered advantages, the Merlin remains their favorite.
On July 4, 2015, Rob Jaap and I flew from Innisfail to Forestburg, where we met Sven Bernard, a Swiss ex-paratrooper working to develop the airfield. We explored the site and witnessed Rob mastering wing control. Encountering smoke on the return, we reported visibility issues but landed safely back at Innisfail.
On February 1st, during a flight to Red Deer Lake, the narrator experienced a catastrophic aviation accident after colliding with another plane. Despite crashing, the narrator survived with injuries, including a dislocated knee and broken ribs, and received prompt medical assistance. The aircraft, built over 26 years, was irreparably damaged.

A new Bearhawk LSA model, noted for its light weight and fuel efficiency, has piqued interest. The author continues working on the Buttercup while considering future projects.

Oshkosh 2014 was a remarkable aviation event featuring over 10,000 airplanes, including the One Week Wonder project, where volunteers built a complete aircraft. The unveiling of Sonex's new Turbo engine showcased technological advancements, while the Ultralights barn highlighted innovative designs. The experience was unforgettable, celebrating the spirit of flight and aviation progress.

Considering future aircraft for aerobatics, the author explores options, weighing the benefits of light biplanes and potential rebuilds, while acknowledging regulatory hurdles for aerobatic approvals.
