SuperSTOL Update (2014-12)

The SuperSTOL is ready for flight pending Transport Canada’s final paperwork for MDRA inspectors. It features a Rotax 914 engine producing 115hp, weighing 897 lbs, and boasts good ground handling and night flying capabilities. The author is hopeful for flight authority soon, despite previous delays and ongoing adjustments to the aircraft.

From the Cockpit (2012-09)

In March 2012, an Avid Speed-Wing was rescued for repairs after a ground loop incident. The owner discovered extensive damage requiring both structural and engine work. After successful repairs and modifications, test flights confirmed improved performance. The effort involved assistance from fellow aviators, culminating in the Avid's return to the skies.

CAVU Dreams (2011-10)

September was filled with enjoyable flying experiences, including a successful "Fly for Pie" event that raised $305 for the COPA Freedom-to-Fly Fund, featuring various aircraft. Despite weather challenges, the postponed COPA for Kids day proceeded well. Additionally, work resumed on the Buttercup plane, tackling landing gear installation difficulties.

CAVU Dreams (2006-09)

I had an incredible flying weekend, starting with practice landings and a successful fly-in breakfast at Springbank. Enjoyed smooth weather, good company, and even pie afterward. I plan to add wheel skis to my plane for winter and discovered new aircraft products at Oshkosh. Excited for fall flying and upcoming maintenance chores.
