Goose Bumps

On November 2, 1947, Howard Hughes demonstrated the Spruce Goose's flight, changing aviation history. Inspired by this, I pursued my dream of flying, leading to my first solo flight on December 5, 1980. Recently, I ventured on a cross-country trip to see the Spruce Goose, enhancing my confidence and passion for flying.

Vegas Trip

After much planning and delays, a family flew their RV-10 from Canada to Las Vegas, finally enjoying a warm vacation. They faced weather challenges but successfully navigated to various destinations, including the Grand Canyon. The trip included a private wedding and enjoyable family time, highlighting the efficiency and performance of their aircraft.

CAVU Dreams (2010-04)

The author reflects on a memorable flight trip to Invermere, BC, with fellow pilots during favorable weather in March and April. The journey involved navigating through stunning mountain landscapes, culminating in a relaxed lunch stop. 2010 Air Adventure Tour

Stu Simpson describes an Air Adventure Tour. The group faced storms, mechanical issues, and challenging landings during the trip from Alberta to the Pacific coast. He shares the thrill of flying alongside the Columbia River, navigating busy airspace near Seattle, and following the Kootenay River back home. The journey's highs and lows created lasting memories.

CAVU Dreams (2010-03)

This spring promises ideal flying conditions, with early-season weather improving after a challenging two months. While the author missed several good weekends due to fog and plane repairs, they enjoyed the last weekend of February flying around Calgary. Filming for a club video is also underway, with members encouraged to participate.

Trip to the Maritimes

This summer, our family traveled extensively in our RV10, culminating in a significant trip to Canada's Maritimes. Despite challenging weather, we visited friends and family, enjoying scenic flights. We encountered storms but successfully navigated, ultimately reuniting with relatives and sharing joyful moments before facing the return journey amid unpredictable weather conditions.

July proved to be an exceptional month for aviation as pleasant weather enabled club members to embark on extended trips, including visits to Oshkosh and Cold Lake for airshows. Various local flying events gathered strong attendance, showcasing cooperation among members, and resulting in memorable flying experiences despite some challenges, promising a vibrant September ahead.

From The Cockpit (2009-08)

August has not started well for flying, with only one flight last month for maintenance checks. Despite this, there are upcoming events, including a Fly-in breakfast on August 29 and a successful COPA convention in July. Elections for President, Treasurer, and Director are approaching in December, with meetings resuming on September 10.
