CAVU Dreams (2012-08)

Spring in Calgary has brought unstable weather, including storms and snow. Despite this, I logged 14 flying hours, enjoying activities like a Mother’s Day fly-in with fellow pilots. Despite this, September was notably successful for flights, including a trip to Lethbridge. July is filled with exciting aviation events like Fly-In Breakfasts and Airshows. A recent trip to deliver plans showcased camaraderie among club members. The installation of an Artex ME406 ELT in the Christavia was completed successfully. There won’t be club meetings in July and August, resuming on September 11th.

From The Cockpit (2009-06)

The Cessna 120 has resumed flights after receiving its Limited STC. Notable flights included the Poker Run and a breakfast event in Camrose, with over 1000 meals served. Emphasis on following flying protocols was highlighted due to busy traffic conditions. Upcoming events include a meeting with a skydiving guest speaker and a fly-out planned for June 14th.

In May, I transitioned from Encana, working extensively on my cottage near Bashaw while attending aviation events in Calgary. Highlights included a memorable flight to Vulcan and participating in a Poker Run. I also sold my Cessna 150 after six months, leaving Carstairs quieter with fellow aviators grounded.

To Vulcan Again!

Each year, COPA flights from Calgary and Lethbridge gather for breakfast in Vulcan, fostering connections among pilots. This year's event on August 19th saw 24 planes and about 36 attendees, including the youngest member, Emma. The tradition continues to grow, enhancing camaraderie and providing a fun reason to fly.
