On March 19th, Stu Simpson organized a group fly-out to Invermere, BC, sparking interest for another trip to Golden, BC on March 27th, with over 9 aircraft joining. The flight faced manageable winds and showcased a variety of planes. Participants enjoyed scenic views, lunch in town, and camaraderie, looking forward to future adventures.
The 2014 COPA for Kids event, intended to give 50 children a flying experience, was unfortunately canceled due to poor weather conditions. Despite dedicated planning by volunteers, attempts to postpone to the next day also failed. The disappointment felt by kids and parents highlighted the impact of weather on aviation events, yet hopes for future flying opportunities remain.
August has not started well for flying, with only one flight last month for maintenance checks. Despite this, there are upcoming events, including a Fly-in breakfast on August 29 and a successful COPA convention in July. Elections for President, Treasurer, and Director are approaching in December, with meetings resuming on September 10.
