On August 29, 2009, I finally accepted Pat's invitation to fly. The day was beautiful, and the camaraderie among pilots was refreshing. After a smooth flight to Linden and a delightful breakfast, we continued to Ram Falls, highlighted by picturesque views and a perfect landing. Despite initial fears during approach, it ended as a glorious day.
The summer flying season offers exciting events for aviation enthusiasts. A recent trip to Vulcan attracted 16 planes, fostering camaraderie and good community relations. Despite strong winds, Bob Kirkby's breakfast on July 4th was enjoyable. Members are encouraged to volunteer for the upcoming COPA convention and contribute articles about club activities.
The Cessna 120 has resumed flights after receiving its Limited STC. Notable flights included the Poker Run and a breakfast event in Camrose, with over 1000 meals served. After months of anticipation, the author has acquired a Sukhoi 29, enhancing their aerobatic flying ambitions. Previously flying Cessna 172, Citabria, and Super Decathlon, the Sukhoi, a two-seat evolution of the Su-26, offers superior performance and maneuverability. In December, severe cold weather arrived, preventing flights, which was unusual for the past eight years.
