CAVU Dreams (2009-08)

July proved to be an exceptional month for aviation as pleasant weather enabled club members to embark on extended trips, including visits to Oshkosh and Cold Lake for airshows. Various local flying events gathered strong attendance, showcasing cooperation among members, and resulting in memorable flying experiences despite some challenges, promising a vibrant September ahead.

From The Cockpit (2009-07)

The summer flying season offers exciting events for aviation enthusiasts. A recent trip to Vulcan attracted 16 planes, fostering camaraderie and good community relations. Despite strong winds, Bob Kirkby's breakfast on July 4th was enjoyable. Members are encouraged to volunteer for the upcoming COPA convention and contribute articles about club activities.

From The Cockpit (2008-12)

In November, winter was delayed, allowing for enjoyable flying days. A group celebrated a new GPS approach with 15 planes, enjoying pie afterward. Members are urged to vote on a club name change by January 8, with dues increasing to $30. Elections for club positions are approaching, and thanks are extended to Troy Branch for his RV10 project update.

CAVU Dreams (2008-11)

Bernie Kespie's letter advocates for the Calgary Recreational Pilots Association to embrace a direction that prioritizes attracting pilots of all experience levels. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a grassroots focus on safety and enjoyment in flying, while suggesting a need for clarity in club leadership to guide membership growth effectively.

CUFC– Movin’ on Up

The flying club has evolved from informal basement meetings to seeking a permanent community home after 25 years. Members envision a comfortable facility with amenities for socializing, meetings, and recreational flying. The goal is to create a welcoming space that fosters camaraderie, connection, and shared passion for aviation, while avoiding financial burdens.

Polish Aviation Museum

The author recounts a fall vacation in Eastern Europe, especially in Krakow, Poland. They describe flights on Dash 8 aircraft, highlighting the impressive speed and performance of the Dash 8 400 series. The focus then shifts to the Polish Aviation Museum, showcasing over 200 aircraft, including Poland's historic PZL P11.c fighter, symbolizing the nation's resilience during WWII.

CAVU Dreams (2007-12)

Winter has arrived with temperatures dropping below -20°C. Despite the cold, impressive aviation activities occurred, especially at Linden airstrip, where local groups organized flights and a Young Eagles day. Plans are underway to upgrade the airstrip, including burying power lines and relocating it, with community support and funding.

Building A Dream

The author reflects on unfulfilled childhood dreams of becoming an astronaut and fighter pilot, eventually finding joy in building and flying his own aircraft, the Challenger II. Despite challenges in financing and construction, he gains satisfaction from the process, culminating in successful flights that connect him to fellow aviation enthusiasts.
