Last year, I purchased a 1947 Piper PA-12 and flew it home from Columbus, Ohio to Canada. The journey involved meticulous pre-flight planning, several stops across the U.S., and navigating various weather conditions. Despite challenges, I successfully completed the 1,760-mile trip in 19.2 hours with great satisfaction.
After monitoring thunderstorms, the flight crew altered their route, avoiding bad weather while navigating to Geraldton. They enjoyed a meal there before continuing to Rouyn-Noranda and later Bathurst. Despite challenges like turbulence and fog, they successfully landed, celebrating with family and savoring seafood chowder, fulfilling their journey.
On Day 4 of their air adventure, Stu, Barry, and the narrator completed a challenging flight from Salmon Arm to Nelson, overcoming an 8000-foot mountain pass. After enjoying the scenic journey and a pub visit, they embarked on a difficult final leg to Kirkby’s. The trip provided valuable flying experience and unforgettable views.
