China Nose Fire

During a visit to Burns Lake, B.C., the author witnessed firefighting efforts by the Alberta Government's contracted aircraft, including CL-215s, combating a significant wildfire. Despite their efforts, homes were evacuated due to the fire's spread over 4000 hectares, requiring extensive resources and personnel, remaining only partially controlled by late August.

CAVU Dreams (2012-02)

In February, unusually warm weather allowed for fantastic flying conditions. Pilots, including the author, took advantage of the weekend to explore, with one flight leading to a lake landing at Red Deer Lake. After repairing a navigation light and enjoying lunch, the author successfully navigated the landing despite initial challenges, returning home thrilled.
