Over the past month, despite heavy rainfall in Calgary, there were enjoyable flying experiences, particularly the 56th Annual Camrose Fly-In Breakfast. Pilots took off from Carstairs, showcasing strong communication and adherence to procedures. The event was well-attended, with over 100 aircraft registered, concluding a successful day of flying and camaraderie.

Troy Does Dallas

The journey to Dallas for painting the RV-10 was spontaneous, beginning with a call on Sunday morning. Despite weather challenges and adjustments, Troy and the narrator navigated successfully, experiencing various terrains and delays. They enjoyed in-flight activities, cleared customs quickly, and finally arrived, reflecting on the unpredictability and enjoyment of their adventure.

Flying the Boeing 737 Simulator

Captain Wade Miller of WestJet Airlines, a seasoned 737 pilot and instructor, shared a unique simulator experience with a friend. After extensive preparation, they operated a state-of-the-art Boeing 737 simulator, navigating challenges and executing takeoffs and landings. The session offered valuable insights into the intricacies of commercial flying, enhancing their appreciation for the aircraft's complexity.

April brings spring warmth, allowing for work in the garage, although time is scarce due to customer demands for aircraft inspections. The busy schedule has hindered personal projects, but flying events are on the rise. Pilots are reminded to update their skills according to regulatory requirements as the flying season approaches.

Oshkosh Primer

As a pilot, I'm excited to return to Oshkosh for the 2011 event after attending multiple times since 1992. Our group plans a similar expedition to 2008's, departing July 22. Despite the complexities of arrival procedures, they are manageable. I invite fellow club members to join for this enjoyable trip, requiring over a week’s vacation.

Zenair 250 Upgrades

Carl Forman enlisted help with wiring his RV9, incorporating advanced electronics and an autopilot. Goose Bumps

On November 2, 1947, Howard Hughes demonstrated the Spruce Goose's flight, changing aviation history. Inspired by this, I pursued my dream of flying, leading to my first solo flight on December 5, 1980. Recently, I ventured on a cross-country trip to see the Spruce Goose, enhancing my confidence and passion for flying.
