A Bushmaster Adventure

Stu Simpson, a recreational pilot, purchased a Sylvaire Bushmaster for his flying adventures, intending it to last 10 years. After completing the purchase, he encountered various challenges, including engine performance issues and adverse weather conditions during his 200-mile journey home. Despite these obstacles, Simpson successfully navigated the journey, showcasing the Bushmaster's excellent handling.

CAVU Dreams (2013-11)

In October, the author engaged in aircraft repairs and inspections while securing a teaching contract with SAIT. Despite initial apprehensions, they successfully instructed classes on Aerodynamics and Aircraft Structures. They also resumed work on a personal aircraft project, the Buttercup, and noted a change in the pre-meeting dinner location for the club.

CAVU Dreams (2011-10)

September was filled with enjoyable flying experiences, including a successful "Fly for Pie" event that raised $305 for the COPA Freedom-to-Fly Fund, featuring various aircraft. Despite weather challenges, the postponed COPA for Kids day proceeded well. Additionally, work resumed on the Buttercup plane, tackling landing gear installation difficulties.

Oshkosh Primer

As a pilot, I'm excited to return to Oshkosh for the 2011 event after attending multiple times since 1992. Our group plans a similar expedition to 2008's, departing July 22. Despite the complexities of arrival procedures, they are manageable. I invite fellow club members to join for this enjoyable trip, requiring over a week’s vacation.

Humble Pie

The first flight of the Mooney, named Dairy Queen, involved extensive preparation and nervous anticipation. Under the guidance of experienced pilot Butch Foster, I struggled with flight controls but gradually gained confidence. Despite feeling overwhelmed by technical details, I managed to land the plane successfully, appreciating the valuable lessons learned during the experience.

CAVU Dreams (2010-02)

January was a challenging month for flying, prompting upgrades to an aircraft named Chrissy. Key enhancements included larger tires, adjustments to landing gear height, relocating instruments for better visibility, and adding a second radio and audio panel for improved communication. The installation is nearing completion, with a follow-up report promised.

The Import Inspection

The author recounts the experience of acquiring a new airplane and the challenges faced during the import inspection process. Initial hopes of a straightforward inspection turned into unforeseen issues such as repairs and missing documentation, leading to increased costs and delays. Ultimately, the airplane was ready, providing joy and valuable lessons learned.

The course involves practical hands-on training and safety measures, while tool purchases assist in meeting requirements. A busy month limits article production, but future updates are anticipated.
