Blair Field

On October 21, 2017, Blair and Merle Nelson hosted a fly-in event at their private airstrip near Whitecourt to celebrate Merle's cancer recovery. Seventeen planes attended, offering camaraderie and a catered meal. Participants shared stories and appreciated the vintage displays in the spacious hangar, highlighting the event's community spirit and potential for future fundraising.

SuperSTOL Update (2014-12)

The SuperSTOL is ready for flight pending Transport Canada’s final paperwork for MDRA inspectors. It features a Rotax 914 engine producing 115hp, weighing 897 lbs, and boasts good ground handling and night flying capabilities. The author is hopeful for flight authority soon, despite previous delays and ongoing adjustments to the aircraft.

SuperSTOL Update (2014-05)

The SuperSTOL project is progressing well with the timely arrival of the Rotax 914 Turbo engine. The fuselage is painted, and wiring for the panel, which presented several challenges, is underway. Despite complications with avionics and components, the author is pleased with the progress after nine months and encourages others to start building.

As my term as club president ends with Christmas, I reflect on our journey and the enjoyable experiences with CRUFC. We've enhanced our presence online and welcomed new members, but continuous promotion of our passion for flying remains vital. I'm grateful for both current and past executives, and look forward to future adventures together.

Tilt Box
