The Drayton Valley Flying Club has been actively engaging the community through events like the Santa Claus parade and a successful open house that attracted 27 aircraft. They've established flight training with a freelance instructor and have 22 students enrolled. Future plans include infrastructure improvements and local events, enhancing aviation interest.
The author is considering the installation of a Lycoming O235 engine on a VP aircraft but is unsure if it’s suitable due to its weight and horsepower. They’ve reinforced the fuselage and purchased the engine with a solid history. An inspection indicated it appears in good condition, and feedback is welcome.
Since relocating to Drayton Valley, I plan to bring my Volksplane and install the new engine. I’m looking for a hangar and aiming to revive local aviation interest. With affordable hangar leases and nearby airport access, I invite friends to visit. Contact me for details about my aircraft project.
