Despite nearing December's end, the flying weather has been favorable. The author has flown five times since late October, practicing crosswind takeoffs and landings. They enjoyed smooth air while flying to Coronation for lunch and visiting a friend's airstrip. The author hopes to continue flying through the winter months.
On March 20th, club members flew into the Rockies, marking a winter flying experience. Piloted by Katerina Zima, the journey included eight pilots and six planes, showcasing the CRUFC's capabilities. After lunch in Invermere, they returned via Calgary, enjoying scenic views and gaining valuable flying experience. The day concluded with a smooth landing at Kirkby's.
The SuperSTOL project is progressing well with the timely arrival of the Rotax 914 Turbo engine. The fuselage is painted, and wiring for the panel, which presented several challenges, is underway. Despite complications with avionics and components, the author is pleased with the progress after nine months and encourages others to start building.
The author recounts a day of flying to the North 40 fly-in, accompanied by granddaughters who enjoy horseback riding. Despite not riding in years, the author participates in a trail ride. The return flight was completed safely before predicted high winds developed, concluding with enjoyable camaraderie among fellow pilots.
After relocating to Airdrie, the author is restructuring their On Hold Advertising business and making cold calls to build new connections. They emphasize the importance of welcoming new members at meetings and suggest engaging them in conversations. Personal experiences with fellow aviators showcase camaraderie, while promoting business services.
