The day included challenging flying with changing weather. The pilot modified the route multiple times to avoid bad conditions, finally landing in Sudbury after an intense journey. Despite the setbacks, they managed to secure customs clearance and planned for a shorter flight the next day. The SPOT tracker captured the eventful journey.
The flight from Thunder Bay to Sudbury had good weather with lower visibility near Marathon due to moisture. The 2.5-hour flight included map reading, staying low for safety, and no flight following. The trip ended with a pleasant visit with relatives. The decision to skip Kenora due to weather and fuel cost was deemed wise.
Troy Branch reported a smooth flight at 9500 ft, 182kts over ground, avoiding lightning. With a brief stop in Thunder Bay, the total flight covered 980 nm. Tomorrow, a visit to relatives in Sudbury is planned.
