A new Ultralight Flight Training School in Alberta!

This was brought to my attention by club member James Mcpherson, who thought it may be of interest to some of you. I agree and wanted to share it with our membership here in the Skywriter newsletter.

The school is owned and operated by Claudio Mota. It is located at Drayton Valley Industrial Airport CER3. They currently offer Flight Training in Paraglider, Paramotor and Weight-shift Ultralight Trike.

I reached out to Claudio and we had a brief discussion about his school, services they offer and other related details. He was very friendly and helpful.

Claudio has quite an extensive background having flown for 32 years. He learned to fly in 1992, and within 3 years became a Certified Instructor. Certified by Transport Canada for motorized flight instruction, and from the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Canada for gliding instruction. His school offers training, rentals, a range of equipment and comprehensive insurance coverage.

What interested me in particular was that he may be considering, in the future, getting a 3-axis Ultralight to train students in to obtain their Ultralight Permit.

I expressed how there’s a shortage of Ultralight Training Schools in Western Canada, and we sometimes have people making inquiries about Ultralight Training and have no suggestions to offer them. This may solve that problem.

They have a fantastic website you should check out: www.horizonflightschool.ca If you want to try this type of flying or know someone who is looking to get into flying and is searching for training, get in touch with Claudio: Call: 1-780-606-0161 email: info.horizon2024@gmail.com
